About

who i am.

I am a writer, an editor, a colleague, a confidante, a reader. I am the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants, a former New Yorker, an avid fan of long train rides, and a west coast gal at heart. I am most comfortable in liminal spaces, most at peace when next to large bodies of water. Eastern heart, Western mind. I write to discover. These are just a few things to know about me, but for more, click the below images for insight into both me, the writer, and me, the reader, in equal parts.

what i do.

With a background in journalism, more than a decade of editing experience, and nearly three decades of feverish reading now behind me, my interests extend beyond just making words sound pretty on a page. By working with other writers and reading widely, I aspire to build lasting community with like-minded folks, helping others to recognize and rally behind the transformative power of the written word. You can learn more about my projects and offerings at the links below.

I offer coaching in everything from writing personal statements to finessing essays for submission to sprucing up book proposals. I’ve offered developmental editing on full-length manuscripts and helped individuals establish lasting writing practices. Be it brainstorming ideas or line-editing finished manuscripts, I’m here to help.

With 15+ years of newsroom experience, I’m interested in a wide range of topics, and thrive on deadlines. I’ve written about everything from CBD and the endocannabinoid system to the complexities of white innocence. I am always curious to learn more about the world around me and to share my findings with readers.

A big part of being a writer is being able to show vulnerability on the page, and that’s a philosophy I really adhere to. In my creative writing, I reflect a lot about my identity as a child of immigrants, as well as the realities of intergenerational trauma and loss. I often draw inspiration from metaphysics, philosophy, and the natural world.
